Description
Satellite photographs during the summer months frequently reveal a weather situation in which strong convective development is observed over the Rocky Mountains and several hundred kilometers to the east of the mountains, while the region immediately to the lee is essentially cloud free. It is proposed that an orographically induced mesoscale wave phenomenon may produce this situation.

Description
The purpose of this task is to identify a consumptive use methodology suitable for estimates of crop evapotranspiration in southwest Colorado. It includes a review and discussion of the more common predictive equations and sample calculations using measured and derived climatic data at a weather station in the project area. Mean data are used for all calculations except precipitation in which a 60 percent recurrence interval is used in effective...

Description
This 2-year project used a ground-based laser scanner to map avalanche path snow depths to support an effectiveness assessment of recently-installed Gazex avalanche control systems in the Loveland Pass (Seven Sisters) and Berthoud Pass (Stanley) highway corridors. Scans were collected during snow-free conditions for a baseline, and then prior to and post-storm event and post control operations, as weather and logistics allowed. Snow depth and snow...
